Tabia is a former NICU mom and parents her precious daughter, Nandi, who has Turner Syndrome. She is the founder of our popular Black Parents Group and has been working this past year as a NICU Support Staff Member. Her new role at FSNCC is our Community Referral Specialist, which includes oversight of our Parent Groups, Community Referrals, Community Partnerships, and our Sibshops Program.
My name is Melissa Brooks and I have been working with the FSNCC since 2018. Prior to being an employee, I volunteered for years with our NICU Program. I experienced a NICU stay myself when I had twin daughters at 34 weeks. During my NICU experience, my little one had a cleft soft palate and repair as well as a G-tube. At the time of the twins' birth, my oldest daughter, Kamdyn, was just a toddler. I know the power and necessity of children having support as they navigate a sibling's diagnosis. This year, I became a certified Sibshops Facilitator. I look forward to supporting your children in this year's Sibshops Program and watching their connections with one another grow.
This video explores the challenges faced by siblings of individuals with special needs and highlights the critical role of Sibshops. These sessions provide coping strategies, enhance understanding, and create a supportive network for these exceptional siblings.
