Camp FreeSpirit is a half-day summer day camp designed for children ages 2 and up. Camp runs every morning for a week, Monday through Friday. Campers learn about the care and handling of horses, as well as horse sense and safety. By the end of the week, they have learned how to groom, tack, and ride! Each camper is assigned a horse for the duration of the week and works with that horse and develops a relationship with it. Each camper is also assigned a partner to help with the care of their horse, and they learn how to work together as a team and take turns as they share the responsibilities of grooming and the pleasures of riding that particular horse.

This camp introduces beginning and non-riders to recreational horseback riding. Weeks 1 (June 19-22) & 2 (June 26-29):Ages 5-11
Campers will participate in structured hands on tasks that promote developmental skills, but the unique difference about LEAP IN is that campers will have plenty of opportunity for unstructured and child directed play. They will have the chance to gravitate towards what their bodies needs to fulfill their sensory needs in well thought out centers placed in nature. They will step out of their comfort zone, develop higher level critical thinking, work cooperatively with others to develop social skills, all while in their natural environment.
Weeks 3 (July 31- August 3) & 4 (August 8-10): Ages 5-11

Camp Dogwood is a recreational facility located on Lake Norman in Catawba County. We operate a recreational program consisting of 10 one week overnight sessions for adults with blindness and visual impairment. This recreational/vacation experience includes but is not limited to boating, fishing, swimming, tubing, art, crafts, mini golf, and off campus trips to shopping, seminars, bowling, the art museum and zoo. The staff to camper ratio is usually one to six. In addition to staffing the various activities, our staff serve as sighted guides, assist serving meals, and in other capacities that serve our visually impaired and blind guests.
Our goal is to provide a week of fun and fellowship. We serve ages 18 years up to 100 years in this program. Campers must be able to provide their own self care. If they need assistance with self-care they may bring a caregiver with them.
