Pledge Drive 2011

“They are always there to help & give support. They are there when you need them!"

At Family Support Network, we believe the greatest asset a child can have is a strong family. Our mission is to provide support, education, and caring connections to those who have a child with special needs or a baby born prematurely. But it’s not just parents who benefit from our work:

Dr. John Wimmer, Chief of Neonatology: “FSN is playing a vital role as we learn more and more about how parent involvement enhances newborn intensive care and improves outcome. They help us incorporate the parents into the health care team, bringing their perspective to day-to-day care; staff and family satisfaction; NICU design and environment; quality improvement; and cost containment. In doing so, we are realizing improved survival, reduction in complications and readmissions, and reduction in length of stay and costs. For families caught up in the turmoil of the NICU - worry for their babies, disrupted lives, financial stress, physical and emotional fatigue - FSN is an oasis of support, distraction, and fun. When I mention FSN during the
discharge process, I see their eyes light up as they recall the various events and interactions they have experienced.”

Dr. Bill Hickling, Pediatric Neurologist and grandfather of Jack Hickling (whohas Down syndrome): “On May 28, 2010, I crossed the line from Child Neurologist to become the grandfather of a precious boy named Jack. Like so many families in my care, his parents were in need of the empathy, guidance, and practical advice that began in the nursery and entered their home via the Family Support Network. My daughter-in-law, Korey, and my son, Robert, were empowered to look beyond the challenges to the opportunities and joys of raising their son with the assistance of the FSN."

Family Support Network of Central Carolina has been serving families in our community for over 20 years. We depend on your financial support to ensure that these families receive the vital services that empower them to look “beyond the challenges to the opportunities and joys” of raising a child who has special needs or is born prematurely.

On behalf of all of us at FSNCC, we
thank you very much for your support.
