CONGRATULATIONS!
All of us at the Family Support Network of Central Carolina welcome you and your baby to Women's Hospital of Greensboro. Although you may be feeling excited about the arrival of your little one, we understand that a NICU stay was probably not what you imagined when you dreamed of your baby's first days of life. We are here to support you throughout your stay in the NICU, and beyond. |
All of our services are completely free and confidential.

Special events for NICU families offered each month. Check the calendar posted near the elevators outside of the NICU for dates and times. These gatherings provide opportunities to meet other families with babies currently in the NICU, as well as “graduate” families whose babies have been in the NICU. You can also share a snack, make a baby keepsake, and get the latest information about caring for your baby. Be sure to check our current newsletter for details on all of our coming events. |
Parent-to-parent matching: Sometimes the best support comes from other parents who have "walked in your shoes." If you would like to speak with a caring person who has also experienced a NICU stay, speak with one of our Staff members, or give us a call at (336)832-6507. |
Home visitation program: If you are a Guilford County resident, our Early Interventionist will meet with you during your NICU stay, then visit you at home for approximately 4-6 months after your discharge from the NICU to help monitor your baby's development and connect you with community services. Please click here to contact Lisa Shoffner, our NICU Home Visitor. |
Sibling Support: A NICU stay can be a confusing and overwhelming time for big brothers & sisters too. Our Sibnights and Sibling Orientation programs offer the support and information they need - while allowing Mom and Dad to have some special time with baby. |
Parent Resource Room: Please check out our collection of informational materials, located right in the NICU at Women's Hospital. We have a well-stocked lending library featuring the latest books, videos, and other materials regarding having a baby in the NICU. Ask an FSNCC staff member for more information. |
Elizabeth’s Closet: This program provides new or gently used baby care items and equipment for families needing assistance. If you are having difficulty purchasing the supplies you need to care for your baby at home, give us a call at (336)832-6507. If you would like to donate items to Elizabeth's Closet, please click here to view a Wish List of needed items. |
A limited number of gasoline vouchers are available for families needing assistance with travel costs to and from Women's Hospital. Contact NICU Social Worker Colleen Shaw at (336)832-6824, or speak with a member of our Staff. |
CarePages: In the midst of a stressful NICU stay, a CarePages website can help in so many ways. Send updates and photos to your family, friends, and colleagues all at once (meaning fewer phone calls & e-mails to return); connect with other parents experiencing a similar situation; and receive messages of hope and support. A CarePages site is absolutely free and easy to create. Click here to view the CarePages NICU parent forum. |

Your baby will receive a special receiving blanket, provided by Newborns in Need, Project Linus, and other community volunteers. We recommend that you take this blanket home with you, or write your baby's name on it so that it will not be accidentally mixed in with the hospital laundry. If you have not yet received a blanket, please let us know and we will get one to you as quickly as possible. |
Adopt-a-Frog. With the support of a fomer NICU family, we collect donations to provide special positioning aids to babies in the NICU. We are really in need of donations for this program! Please click here to find out how you can help. |
